Skateparks Promote Community

by Nicole on May 31, 2012

Skateboarding continues to grow while baseball and football are in decline. Skateboarding is no longer a frowned upon activity of the sports community; it is mainstream with one in five children considering themselves a Skateboarder. By creating a free, public space you are not only giving your youth a safe and legal place to practice their sport but you are also encouraging a healthy outdoor activity while promoting community interaction and a sense of belonging.

A Skatepark can bring a community together, while increase revenue for the municipality.   The below video is of Thrasher magazines skater of the year 2011, Grant Taylor. He is the son of Stratosphere Skateboard owner Thomas Taylor, who worked closely with Pillar during the Design stages and was instramental in getting the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark built.
